Dr. Janet Hoke, a two year breast cancer survivor and a horse breeder, issued a challenge with the sale of her 2007 yearlings. She pledged 10% of the amount to the Komen Lexington Affiliate if her horses brought $500,000 or more.
Her horses were sold during the Keeneland Fall Yearling Sale and the Maryland Mid-Atlantic Sale.
Dr. Hoke's horses indeed exceeded the $500,000 total and she will be making a donation in excess of $55,600. This donation is the largest single donation in the history of the Lexington Affiliate.
We thank Dr. Hoke for her generosity, as well as all the buyers for their support. It's particularly gratifying for a breast cancer survivor to want to "give back" in this incredible way.

Announcing the Kentucky Pink Link KPL Patient Navigator Program, a Grantee of our local affiliate:
Women throughout Kentucky have resources available for screening, treatment and supplies, but often do not know who to contact or how to access the funds. The KPL patient navigator program is designed to "fill the gap". KPL will assess the patient needs and connect them with organizations which can provide additional screenings; funds for treatment; clinical trials; assistance with insurance issues; post-mastectomy supplies including wigs, lymphedema sleeves, support groups, pharmaceutical needs, and personal needs. The KPL website is http://www.kypinklink.com and the toll free number is 887-597-4655.
