Support for You

Breast cancer can be scary and confusing, both for those diagnosed and for their friends and family. It’s important to have a strong support network to help with the physical and emotional demands of the disease. Remember, you are not alone. There are many support services available to assist you on this journey, including:

The Tuesday Group

Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington offers The Tuesday Group, a free support group for newly diagnosed breast cancer patients and survivors. The group offers women with breast cancer the opportunity to share their experiences. A light lunch is provided. The Tuesday Group meets the fourth Tuesday of every month except December from noon until 1:30 p.m. Contact: Victoria Myer (859) 260-6433

Breast Cancer Support Group

King's Daughters Medical Center offers a support group for survivors that meets quarterly on Tuesdays from 2-3PM. Next meeting is September 11th, and the following is on December 11th.

Thursday Group

For women affected by breast cancer; meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Saint Joseph Cancer Resource Center 701 Bob O Link Drive, Lexington, KY 40504 Contact: Carolyn Durham (859) 269-5021

The Dr. Carol Kramer Women’s Survivor and Support Group

This group provides information and support for women diagnosed with cancer. Meetings focus on educating members about cancer, treatments, and aftercare. Each meeting offers a topic and speaker, with ample time left for Q & A. The primary purpose of this group is to provide mutual support for one another in the recovery process.   • 1-877 GO KOMEN, a free breast care helpline offering professional support services to anyone with breast health and breast cancer concerns, including breast cancer patients and their families.
  • The Co-Survivor section of Komen’s national website, where friends and family members can share tips and advice, and read personal stories from others who have been in similar situations.
  • BreastCancerTrials.org was developed specifically for women and men interested in breast cancer trials and is a non-profit service that is dedicated to providing accurate information about breast cancer clinical trials.
